Steampunk Models Needed

Fantasy and fetish photographer Dirk Hooper is looking for male and female models for a Steampunk project that will be developed over the next three months.  The project will lead to a major exhibition in Tulsa this coming June, but may also lead to other exhibitions or even a book.

The description of Steampunk is below, but if you’re not familiar with the term, you may not be right for this project.  Hooper is looking for male and female models who have a Steampunk wardrobe and props already available for a photoshoot.  In addition, Hooper will be searching for a certain look, personal style and spirit similar to what he always looks for in prospective models.  Photoshoots will be on-location around Oklahoma City.

Interested models should be ready to sign a standard model release and be available for shooting relatively quickly.  Please send a few photos along with your name, email and a phone number, so he can get an idea of your look.  Professional photos or modeling experience is not necessary.  Models who are chosen will receive a photoshoot and several worked photos that are worth nearly $500 in value, plus if a photo of your set ends up in the art show, you will get an 8×10 of the piece as well.

Please send photos, name, email and phone to: dirk@dirkhooper.com

Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and speculative fiction, frequently featuring elements of fantasy that came into prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used — usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era England — but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date. Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of “the path not taken” of such technology as dirigibles, analog computers, or digital mechanical computers (such as Charles Babbage’s Analytical engine); these frequently are presented in an idealized light, or with a presumption of functionality.
